Wabash MPI recently received ISO Certification for its quality management system. Wabash was assessed by EAGLE Registrations Inc. and conformed to ISO 9001:2008 standards for its design, manufacture and service of hydraulic, pneumatic and electric presses and their accessories.
In regards to receiving the ISO certification, Beth Gillespie, General Manager of Wabash MPI, said, “We take great pride in our accomplishment of obtaining our ISO Certification. I am proud of and appreciate each and every employee for their efforts in realizing this goal.”
Wabash is an international manufacturer and supplier of standard and custom hydraulic presses including compression molding presses, liquid injection molding, vacuum molding, transfer molding, ASTM, composite molding, laboratory and R&D presses. All electric compression presses are also offered and are suited for performance in a lab or production floor. Wabash provides standard, special application and custom presses to meet customer’s specific requirements.
Wabash MPI, a leader in standard and custom press manufacturing, is now offering used and reconditioned presses. Customers can see all available presses at http://www.wabashmpi.com/equipment_list.asp. For customers with old presses who want to upgrade, Wabash will offer a trade-in on certain models. A buy-back program for used presses is also available.
In addition, Wabash offers a reconditioning service. If you have a Wabash press that needs refurbishment, contact the Wabash Service department for information.
Wabash provides standard and custom laboratory and production presses for many applications, including composite molding, compression molding, transfer molding, vacuum molding, compaction, ASTM, laboratory and R&D.
Wabash MPI offers compression molding presses with upper tilting platens for easy mold access. The tilting platen allows for the mold to be cleaned as needed, in some cases between each cycle, dependent upon the application. Applications needing frequent cleaning may include silicone molding, rubber molding or other molding applications requiring access to intricate mold cavities.
The upper tilting platen is hinged on the front and is moved hydraulically, tilting 45° and exposing the upper mold half. This gives the operator better access to quickly and easily clean the mold. The upper tilting platen option is available on nearly any size Wabash compression press.
Wabash MPI and Carver, Inc. announce the appointment of Dave Singer as Marketing Manager for both companies. Singer has served in many roles within the two companies from 1983 to April of 2009.
Wabash is a leading manufacturer and supplier of standard and custom laboratory presses for composite applications, including composite molding, compression molding, transfer molding, vacuum molding, titanium compaction, ASTM, laboratory and R&D presses.
Carver is a leading manufacturer of manual and automated presses for a variety of applications, including IR and XRF pelletizing, laminating, molding sample preparation, physical testing, oil extraction and other specialized applications. A full line of parts and accessories for a variety of applications is also available.
Wabash MPI offers superplastic forming presses for molding titanium alloy sheet materials for military and aerospace applications. This forming process begins with press heating platens hot forming the material and the die up to 1832 F° (1000 C°). Gas pressure then slowly inflates the heated material to fit the die, conforming to even the smallest details.

An all electric compression press is also offered. Wabash provides standard, special application and custom presses to meet customer’s specific requirements.
Transfer presses from Wabash MPI are ideal for medical gum stock silicone applications and are also available with clean room compatibility. Standard press sizes range from 15 to 350 tons and are available in a variety of pot/plunger sizes and configurations for a range of applications.
The transfer presses are offered in four post and C-frame press styles to meet specific process needs. Press frames can also be custom designed to fit specific applications. Various control options including process control and data collection are also available.

A hydraulic press specifically designed to mold test samples of rubber for ASTM D3182 is available from Wabash MPI. The Genesis Series Compression Press, Model G50H-19, has adjustable clamp force of 8 to 50 tons. Fully guided, heated and insulated platens are 19” x 19” with operating temperature to 500°. Proprietary platen design provides more precise temperature uniformity across the platen surface.
Other features include integral hydraulic system, fully programmable controls and fully guarded clamp area with interlocked operator gate. Options include contact gauge for more quiet operation and low pressure system for operation from 2 to 50 tons clamp force.
Wabash MPI has recently received patent U.S. 6990896B2 for their all electric E-Series Compression Press. Especially suited for clean room and laboratory applications, the E-Series is designed for round-the-clock performance in a lab or on the production floor.
This press series is clean, quiet to operate, and offers greater precision and reliability over hydraulically driven presses. It also offers greater energy savings, especially for longer dwell time applications. The E-Series is ideal for compression molding rubber/elastomers, gum silicones, various TPR’s, thermosets, and plastics, but can also be used in various bonding and laminating applications. The unique all electric power/drive system provides accurate ramping of clamp force from 1,000 lbs to 30 tons.
Standard temperature range is to 650°F (higher temperatures optionally available), and platen sizes range from 12" x 12" to 24" x 24". The E-series features a microprocessor-based programmable control of all press functions. Heated platens are fully insulated, cartridge heaters are included. The temperature is controlled thru the PLC and has programmable heating and cooling capability. An integral load cell is included for force feedback to the PLC providing programmable pressure ramping capability. The PLC also has a segmented program structure with recipe storage.
