Glossary of Terms W-X
Glossary Terms used in the Compression and Transfer Molding Process
WINK:
The slight opening of a mold, or part of a mold, when the clamp force is overcome, or if the platen(s) deflect because of the internal mold forces. Results in flash conditions, and with time, permanent deformation. Control of injection pressure should limit the pressure that is required to make good parts in the desired cycle time.
WITNESS LINE:
An often slight visual indication on the molded part showing location of the mold parting lines.
